WINE CELLAR APPLICATION

Wine cellar application for wine collectors of all experience. The application is an all-in-one tool that brings the thrills and satisfaction of wine collecting.

With this application, you’re able to easily manage and track every wine in your collection, read tasting notes by community users for reference, share your tasting notes to the community, and educate yourself on the ever-growing world of wine.

I noticed that existing cellar tracking applications focus on only one or two features, the user experience is confusing or counter intuitive, they bring on more labor intensive tasks, and they make users prone to mistakes.

My vision was to create a better experience by reducing the learning curve, dismissing mistakes that collectors are prone to commit, and bringing more thrills to wine collecting.

WIREFRAMES

User research pointed out that people have different visual preferences to read information, so ensuring that the application had versatility in terms of viewing format was prioritized. Another important note taken was that particular information is essential to wine collectors when going through their collection. They want more extensive information available in the profile page.

List view. This is the default viewing format because I noticed that experienced collectors don't care about labels or what the bottle looks like. Rather, they care the profile of the wine and when it’s ready to be enjoyed.

Bottle view. The second viewing option for those who prefer to go through their collection visually. Each card consists of a full bottle thumbnail image with the name of wine, year it was produced, and the storage location.

Cellar view. A feature that stands out next to existing wine applications is having visual representation of storage units. Some existing applications have this feature, but they either made it difficult to pick up or aren't accurate. I put together a design that has strong perception and accuracy with the real storage unit(s) collectors own.

This view isn’t featured on smartphone devices, because I don’t want to put users through the strain of looking for a wine on such a small screen.

STYLE GUIDE

Sintony is a modern sans serif typeface, drawn with a slightly square structure and smooth strokes.

From competitive analysis, red is the common primary color palette. I went with purple as the primary color with browns and red to stand out.
